There is a simple choice you can make today that will probably change the trajectory of your life. It’s the choice of deciding to take full ownership of your profits. In practical terms, this means deciding how much money your business is going to make.
This sounds crazy to anyone who hasn’t done it. “You can’t just decide how much money you’re going to make and then have it happen.” is what most people will say.
Well, I’m happy to tell you the good news…your income targets can be as big as you want them to be, and you can hit those targets consistently.
15 years ago, when I was living off of tuna and rice as a broke personal trainer, I made the choice to set my first ever income target. And from that point on, my life has never been the same.
After 15 years of setting and hitting profit targets, I can tell you it’s actually the most sane way to run a business, and to live in this world. Income isn’t some random accident that “just happens”. We all choose our income…but most of us don’t realize it.
You either choose your income consciously, or you choose by not choosing. If you don’t set income targets consciously, you’re letting everything and everyone except for YOU to choose your income.
When YOU choose your profit targets, and you anchor your business into those targets, magic happens:

The algorithm doesn’t dictate your profits

Every business mentor and teacher of mine had this ONE thing in common 👉 They set their profit targets, and hit them consistently.
This is a skill that any business owner can learn. And today’s episode will cover the five steps to making this happen for you.
Here are those steps in summary:
- Set your profit target, and make it a number that stretches you. (as a thought experiment, try 10x whatever you’re currently making)
- Create an offer that will help solve a problem that people really want to solve
- Send traffic to that offer. My preferred way to do this is with YouTube, and is the engine of my business for the last 15 years.
- Asses what isn’t working and get rid of all the dead weight. Focus all your efforts on the needle movers (quit instagram if it hasn’t grown your business, and start YouTube)
- Track your numbers each month. I know number-tracking isn’t the sexiest phrase, but the more you track your numbers, the faster your business will grow. This allows you to keep your profits front of mind and adjust where you need to
