Fifteen years ago I made one of the best decisions of my life, and that was to choose myself. And for me, that meant starting a youtube channel and online business so that I could be free. And today, I’m going to give you the simple roadmap to starting your own youtube channel, becoming job-free and succeeding in online business. The end result? You can live your life 100% on your terms.
I’ve been helping purpose-centered women to start their online businesses this year, and it’s helped me to put this video together, and offer you the practical and simple steps you can start taking today to make this a reality for you.
Starting a YouTube channel is one of the fastest ways to transform your life, increase your income, and do your Deep Work in this life. It is such a fulfilling and rewarding path, and today I’m going to help you to start your own youtube channel!
Now it’s important for me to dissolve your objections to starting a youtube channel up front, and I’m going to start with the most pressing objection: It’s too saturated.
Objection 1 – “It’s too saturated”
Now look, I started doing YouTube in 2009 and I’ve been at this online business thing for the past 15 years. And here’s the truth. You and I both know that is nothing but an excuse. That’s your fear talking. That’s number one. If you take a deep breath and look at that excuse, you know damn well it’s nothing more than an excuse.
Are books saturated? Is TV saturated? Is spotify saturated? The idea that your deep work isn’t worth pursuing because other people are pursuing their deep work in a similar medium is just silly. Can you imagine if Shakespear said “Alas. There are far too many people writing. It’s too saturated. I’ll just turn on Netflix and shove these dreams deep down into recesseses of my mind.”
When we’re dealing in the medium of communication and ideas, there’s no such thing as “too saturated”. Just as with books, there will never ever be a market that’s too saturated for authentic and helpful content. And THAT right there is why you’re using the excuse of market saturation. Because you’re scared your content won’t be good enough.
So let’s call a spade a spade. You’re not hesitant because the market is saturated. You’re hesitating because you’re scared to put your heart into something and have people ignore it. Well, my friend, there’s a very good chance your early videos will be rusty. But if you get past that, and keep going, they will get better. And as with anything, the cream will always rise to the top. When you post helpful things, people find it and watch it.
Objection 2 – “I don’t like the sound of my voice”
Welcome to the club. There is not a single person on this platform who didn’t experience that awkward feeling of discomfort at hearing themselves talk, and seeing themselves on camera.
Here’s my invitation to you. I dare you to post 10 videos. After that, you will be pretty much free of that feeling.
You don’t like the sound of your voice because your ego hasn’t yet been tamed. This is why I love online business…it’s a training ground and spiritual practice in dissolving unhelpful patterns within ourselves.
If you think that resistance and pattern is isolated to just your voice in videos, you are dead wrong. That little pattern of resistance is following you around in every aspect of your life. Getting free of that constricting energy of the ego is worth its weight in gold, as far as I’m concerned.
As your coach, I’m telling you even if you don’t make a single penny from posting to YouTube, it will still increase your income because you’ll be able to show up with authenticity and power in your life. Being completely free from that nagging little pattern of self-censorship delivers you into a caliber of personhood that only 1% of people ever attain.
Have you ever been in a room with a person who is so comfotable with themselves that they put you at ease? Those people are magnetic and effective. And you could become one of those people by breaking through the little petty patterns of “I don’t like the sound of my voice”
By the way, if you’re ready to break past this limiting pattern, you should grab my mini-program “the Confident Creator” which is early pricing right now, and will dissolve your blocks and help you to start posting your online content with confidence and passion. Objection 3 – “I’m not qualified enough”
Once you get past objection 2, that will give you space to handle this silly excuse. This excuse is another form of fear dressed in drag.
When you set your sights on a big goal, of course you are not yet the person who has attained that goal. The mistaken perception is that because you are not yet the person who has attained the goal, you are not “good enough” to attain it.
There are two paradigms we can live our lives from. Truth or Illusion. And again, online business is a beautiful training ground for freedom because we get to break free from illusions.
In this case, the ego uses the fact that you haven’t yet achieved something as an excuse to put ourselves down. It loves any excuse to maintain status quo, and keep itself alive. This “not good enough” paradigm is the oldest trick from the ego’s playbook, spanning back millenia. It is 100% of the time a falsehood, an illusion, and a darkness I recommend you not live from.
The TRUE paradigm is the fact that when you have a goal or dream, it is there for the sheer fact that it belongs to you. You are inherently “good enough” for any dream or goal you have in your heart, and the fact that it’s there is all the proof you need. So, when you have a far off dream or goal, this doesn’t mean “i’m not good enough”…it means “there’s a dream in my heart that is going to grow me and stretch me.”
Will this be uncomfortable? Yes. Like any birth, the birth of a new self is uncomfortable and even a little painful. But growing into a dream is far better than seeing a big dream and choosing to stifle your growth because “I’m not good enough”.
Objection 4 – I don’t know xyz
Another way of saying this is “I don’t know if it will be worth my effort”. If you are quantifying worthiness of a pursuit based solely on numerical metrics like views, then that is a fine reason to hesitate. But it’s a silly metric to base the measure of “if it has worked.”
You can’t know the outcome of any efforts you give in life. And to allow uncertainty of outcomes hold you back is one of the best ways to stay stifled and stunted.
When you stop allowing the ego’s need for certainty steer the ship of your life, and you start letting your soul and passion take the wheel, the destination and results will be better 99% of the time anyway.
