A Yoga Nidra Practice for Releasing Anxiety

I walked into the wrong yoga class on accident many years ago, and it changed my life. The entire class was full of people getting under blankets, looking as if adult nap time was about to happen. Before I knew what was happening, the teacher was guiding me to a spot and tucking me into a blanket cocoon of my own.

The next ninety minutes will forever be one of the best moments of my life. It was a beautiful, peaceful, guided meditation practice called yoga nidra. Yoga Nidra translates to “sleep yoga”. I loved it so much that I got certified to teach yoga nidra just a few months later, and have studied the practice ever since.

It is a form of meditation that modern science has found to be highly beneficial for all sorts of maladies.
